COMP1215: Foundations of Computer Science

First Year, 2023/24 · Semester 1

Overall mark 87%

A foundational module covering the mathematical underpinnings of computer science.

SKILLS Discrete Mathematics · Problem Solving · Logical Reasoning

TECHNOLOGIES Theory

What the module covered

This module covered mathematical concepts that underpin computer science, including set theory, graph theory, counting, statistics, and logic.

What I took from it

I found the theory intellectually stimulating, even when its connection to day-to-day programming was less immediate. It helped me develop my problem-solving and logical reasoning skills. I was especially interested in set theory and ideas such as Cantor’s diagonal argument for infinite sets.
